Just a thought or two on the whole Johan Santana ordeal.  If this trade rumor is true I'll be shocked and impressed if we land somebody on par with Josh Beckett.  That is ridiculous.  However, I do not think the Sox are competing against the Yankees or any other baseball franchise.  Think I'm crazy?  Well 30 miles south of Fenway stands a local franchise that is on the verge of history and has stolen every possible regional and national headline possible.  The post World Series celebration has been quiet or even non-existent and since the signings of of Schilling and Lowell we haven't uttered a peep about them since.  In order to regain our attention during the time of year where EVERYONE pays attention to the NFL the Sox obviously feel the need to do something so massive that it has had everyone on pins and needles for almost an entire week.  That's amazing considering the most significant event the team is hosting is the annual Christmas at Fenway.  God bless the Sox if they are bold enough to land Johan.  I will be floored.  I will be ecstatic.  I will be chomping at the bit for Spring Training BUT I will not seriously turn my attention their way until the Pats go home for their off-season.
