I Want Them Alive If Possible. If Not, Wasted!

I'm only going to write one thing about this latest late season sweep is this.  Dave Magadan needs to be fired.  I don't believe for a second that an entire 9 man roster can approach each game at the plate the same way accidentally.  I'm not buying it.  Pettite is the craftiest pitcher of the bunch and he always gives the Sox problems.  Fine.  Clemens, Wang and Rivera notoriously cruise in first pitch fast balls, because they know the Sox batters are laying off.  This fact is what kills me.  Why not throw them your own curve ball and be more aggressive at the plate by jumping all over those pitches?  I just don't get it.  Why do you put yourself into a 2 strike situation, when you know some garbage is coming, only to whip or weakly hit it?  Three straight games of this?  Seriously?  You guys couldn't figure it out?  After this series I believe that this was the fourth or fifth time this month that the Sox have been no hit for 5 innings or more.  Can you believe that?  That's not the players causing that.  That's a forced coaching philosophy at work.  A horrible, horrible, horrible philosophy.

I really wish we had a JD in right field...Jermaine Dye.

Dice-K is now Japanese for the 2006 Josh Beckett.

Paramedics have added a new term to their lingo, which will be used when they lost all vital signs on a victim.  It's called a JD Drew.

The Sox/Yankees rivalry can never just come and go.  It always ends up being one stupid thing or another.  Tony Maz from the Boston Herald wrote a cover story on Monday with the headline "It's Over".  Way to Curly Haired Boyfriend that one guys.  Well done.  Way to fire up the Yankees Maz.  I'm sure the team is thanking you this morning.

Now, for the second time this season, a Yankees relief pitcher (in this case Joba the Hutt AKA the new Scott Proctor), throws at Kevin Youkilis' head in the 9th inning of a game the Yankees have wrapped up.  First and foremost I'm tired of the Yankees firing back in the media with their "we're a classy organization, we would never do that on purpose, the guys a rookie" crap while everyone eats the BS right out of their hand.  Bottom line is they have proven that they are punks.  I used to defend their "class", but after this season between this and A-Rod's Toronto incident I've come to the conclusion that they are the equivalent of those guys you grew up with who would sucker punch you and then run away.  Both times they did it in the 9th inning which meant the Sox couldn't retaliate.  How yellow must you be to pull that crap?  What's worse is that since we're in the middle of a pennant race the players have to think twice about getting suspended when they have every right to retaliate.  The Yankees know this and they take full advantage of it.

What was dumb about yesterday's move is that by tomorrow the rosters expand to 40 players.  I wish Theo would channel some of Harry Sinden's soul circa 1988 and call up some goons to do the dirty work.  Send them out to get suspended.  Where is the equivalent of a Bruce Shoebottom or a Lyndon Byers?  Heck, LB and Jay Miller both still live locally.  Sign them to a 10 day contract.  Order them to "drop the glove."  Do you think if anybody on the current Red Sox had Cam Neely's personality that any of this would be allowed to happen?  The Yankees deserve to be punched right in the mouth and if something doesn't happen in a couple of weeks, in Fenway, then I'll be absolutely livid.   They can't keep getting away with this while the league and everyone else turns a blind eye.  It's wrong.  It's what cowards do.
