Every once and a while I’m just going to toss a hodgepodge of stuff together.  Not all of it will be Sox related nor baseball.  I’m an equal opportunity sports lover and I need to toss around some thoughts.  Most times I just need to get little things off of my chest.

I hate typing in all caps, but I need you to understand that when I typed this I was screaming.  The Colts are 4-1 favorites to win the 2007 Super Bowl.  What the hell is Vegas thinking?  It’s over for the Colts.  This isn’t Philly blowing four NFC championships before reaching the big game.  This is a team that has proven time and time again that they are not ready to make the leap.  The problem is the QB.  He becomes so easy and vulnerable to stop in the playoffs.  I love how teams like the Steelers and the Patriots shut down the run to force Peyton “Cut that Meat” Manning to throw and eventually self-destruct.  It’s scary how he and A-Rod have gone down similar paths.

I know we were spoiled by the Pats being in the SB so much, but we were doubly spoiled by the fact that they played three awesome games that all came down to the wire.  The last three SB’s not involving the Pats have been, and I quote Homer Simpson, boooooooring.  Sunday was a snoozefest.  I had more fun rooting for the CareerBuilder chimps.  Thankfully Vegas got wise and set the line on the Pats at 5-1.  That will go to 2-1 if they are healthy next year.  Sidebar:  It blows my mind at how well they did considering all of the adversity they had to overcome.  None of the teams that made the playoffs would have done so if they experienced what the Pats did.  Not a single one.

Roger Clemens back on the Sox?  It’s like running into an ex ten years after having a nasty break-up but you find yourself trying to forgive them, because the sex was beyond incredible and you cannot help but think “I would love to get me some of that again”.  Then your other brain steps in and says “Hey jackass, that bitch left you for the rich foreigner with the long hair and the Range Rover.  Remember?”, which has you devising ways to justify a win-win for everyone.  I’m there right now.  The pain is still lingering, but the good memories are just as fresh.  I hate you Roger Clemens...you sexy beast. 

Is the World Baseball Classic shaping up to be a disaster?  I just hope the Dominicans and Cubans make it to the finals so it will be supported by the two countries that care the most.  I think it would be successful if they did it after the World Series instead of sending an All-Star team to Japan, which they do every year.  You could get it over and done with in two weeks.  Guys are in better shape and you won’t be killing their personal time, especially if you treat it like the World Cup and do it every four years.  Let me just say this, the big names never ever ever ever pull out of the World Cup.  It’s sacrilegious.  I really love the concept of the WBC and it disgusts me that so many players could care less.

From the Totally Off Topic Files:  A 6 year old boy was suspended for sexual harassment from the elementary school my sister attended and I did my pre-school time (I still remember my motorized Grossman’s tractor trailer set that I brought in for show and tell.)  This is double secret ri-duck-alous.  When will this crap stop?  Why do we set adult-sized expectations on children?  Last time I checked children are still learning right from wrong at that age.  Where is the common sense?  I’m so flabbergasted over this.  Next thing you know the children will be suspended for passing along germs and making others sick.  It will be considered physical abuse.  Shame on you Brockton School System for taking the easy way out and not doing your jobs.  You’re paid to educate the children and sometimes that involves hard work.  In this case a simple lesson could have been taught.  Brockton is a community that needs smart, caring leaders and your defense of these actions just proved that you are not prepared to fulfill your duties as educators.  The teacher, the principal and the superintendent all need to be fired for this.  It should be done in as swift and obnoxious a manner as the boy was suspended.  I just cannot wait to see when you cut Art, Music and Physical Fitness programs to pay for the bubble wrap that you have to encase the children in to make it impossible for them to come into physical contact with each other.
